Tony Bellman was recently selected as Nicolet College’s Student Ambassador for the 2013-14 school year. This distinction is one of the highest honors Nicolet College bestows on a student.

As ambassador, Bellman will work to promote Nicolet and help inform residents of the opportunities the college has available to them and their communities.

“I know first-hand how Nicolet can transform lives and I consider it an honor to let others know about all the great opportunities Nicolet has to offer,” said Bellman, who is studying information technology. “Enrolling at Nicolet was the best decision I’ve ever made.”

He also serves as the student representative on the Nicolet College Board of Trustees and has volunteered regularly to work with the Nicolet College Foundation during scholarship fundraising events.

“I work with hundreds of students and scholarship recipients, and Tony is among the finest,” wrote Heather Schallock, foundation executive director, in nominating Bellman. “Tony is eager to share his story and in many ways he has already been serving as an ambassador for Nicolet without having the formal title. He truly loves Nicolet and is exactly the kind of student we would want to represent the college.”

Bellman, of Eagle River, plans to continue his education after Nicolet and has already been accepted into the University of Wisconsin-Stout’s communication and information technology bachelor’s degree program. He plans on eventually earning a master’s degree. “My dream job would be to someday teach at a college,” he said.

The Student Ambassador program is a statewide program of the Wisconsin Technical College System. One student from each of the state’s 16 technical colleges is selected for the honor based on high academic achievement, community involvement, leadership and a commitment to higher education.

As part of his responsibilities, Bellman will represent Nicolet at the state Ambassador Conference this April in Madison.
