Obituary: Jack Phillips

Jack Phillips, 78, of Rhinelander died Sunday, March 10, 2013, at Friendly Village Nursing Home. He was born March 12, 1934, to Joseph and Hattie (Benkowski) Phillips. He is survived by two sons, Martin (Karen) Phillips of Florida and Jake Phillips of Rhinelander; a daughter, Patty Fessenden of Rhinelander; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Joe and Clemens. Mr. Phillips served in the Navy during the Korean War from 1953 to 1956. He spent 10 years on the Rhinelander Police Department, 12 years as Oneida County Sheriff and 10 years as an investigator for the Oneida County Department of Social Services. A celebration of his life will be held Friday, March 15, from noon until 2 p.m. at Hildebrand-Russ Funeral Home. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.
