Buffalo Creek Flood and Buffalo Creek Revisited will be the featured documentaries on Thursday, Feb. 21, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Guild Hall, 39 South Pelham St., Rhinelander. The event is sponsored by Northwoods Labor Solidarity.

On Feb. 26, 1972, a coal-waste dam owned by the Pittston Company collapsed at the head of a crowded hollow in southern West Virginia. A wall of sludge, debris and water tore through the valley below, leaving in its wake 125 dead and 4,000 homeless. The Pittston Company maintains the disaster was “an act of God.” Actual footage of the flood and scenes of the ensuing devastation, along with interviews lead to evidence contradicting Pittston’s official position on the disaster.

To RSVP, call Jackie at (715) 369-0309.
