The Sacred Heart Hospital Foundation, in cooperation with Ministry Medical Group-Tomahawk, Ministry Sacred Heart Hospital and Ministry Health Care, will host its annual community health and wellness fair with free health screenings for community members on Saturday, Oct. 20, from 8-11:30 a.m. The event, one of the Foundation’s 2012 projects, is an effort to help build a healthier community by bringing preventive services and health information to area residents.

Conducted by health professionals, the screenings will include diabetes (Ministry Diabetes), non-fasting cholesterol, PSA prostate screens, blood pressures, balance (Ministry Rehabilitation Services), pulse oximetry screen, and throat cancer screens. A limited number of hearing screens will be offered; pre-register for the hearing screen by calling (715) 453-7770. The Community Blood Center will conduct a blood drive during the event and organ/tissue donor registration will be provided by American Tissue Service.

Information booths include Ministry Diabetes, Sacred Heart Hospital Foundation Health Access program, Cancer (James Beck Cancer Center and American Cancer Society), Ministry Home and Hospice Care, Ministry Behavioral Health, weight management, nutrition, power of attorney education sessions and more.

Diabetes and cholesterol screens provide participants with sugar and cholesterol blood levels and related information. Cholesterol participants must be at least 18 years old. There is no need to fast for either the cholesterol or diabetes screens.

PSA prostate blood tests will be provided for men 50 years of age or older and for men 40 years and older who have a family history of prostate cancer. No pre-registration required.

Participants should use the front doors at the hospital/clinic complex. Doors open at 8 a.m. For more information about this Sacred Heart Hospital Foundation-sponsored event, call (715) 453-7770.
