Manitowish Waters Bike Trail nearing goal

The Manitowish Waters Bike Trail, Inc would like to announce that they are nearing their goal for the first phase of the bike trail extension. The Manitowish Waters Bike Trail Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit that has been established for the sole purpose of raising funds for the development and maintenance of the Manitowish Waters bike trail system. This first phase is being done solely with donations and will extend from Rest Lake Park/Discovery Center to Red Feather Road/Camp Jorn. The main focus of this trail is safety. Summer traffic, bicycles and walkers have become too numerous to share the county highways and this trail will alleviate a part of that dangerous congestion.

Currently, we are $20,000 away from making this first phase a reality, thanks to many generous donors. We plan to get this first phase completed this year, with construction starting within a week. While this phase is being completed, we will continue our fund raising efforts to proceed from Red Feather Road to the North Lakeland School. Mercer has a grant, which will allow them to proceed along Hwy. 51 to connect with the Manitowish Waters trails.

Our ultimate long range goal is the connection to Boulder Junction, Sayner trail system, with a scenic ride or walk across Cty. K, and areas beyond, making Manitowish Waters a trail system destination.

All donations are tax deductible and can be sent to: Citizens Bank, Manitowish Waters Bike Trail Inc., P.O. Box 326, Manitowish Waters, WI 54545.
