Letter: Should the platform influence our vote? by Rachel Carlson

The political conventions just wrapped up, and anyone watching them should know how each party believes on the issues. Each of us has a “World View” that influences how we will vote. A world view is the prism of how we view things in the world.

There are many ways of viewing our world. There is an atheistic world view system that eliminates God completely (we see the constant lawsuits trying to remove any hint of a Supreme God/Creator), a government world view sees the need of government to be there from the cradle to the grave (and believes it’s government’s role to fix all that ails an individual, redistribute wealth so everyone is on the same level, accept anyone’s personal choice to act or do (political correctness), and then there is the Biblical world view, which sees the inspired word of God as the prism which guides and dictates our living on earth.

Our nation was founded on this system, with the Judeo-Christian values from the formation of the Constitution, Bill of Rights, educational system, marital/family system, etc. For the last 60 years, we have been moving fast and far from this system. As a society we now can legally thumb our nose at our God and Creator and ignore His word (the map and manual for life and living). Even though it doesn’t exist, five judges said the Constitution gives the right to kill our unborn children (science says life begins at conception, and there are some laws passed to protect the baby because they know it feels pain within the womb and is living!), we’ve stripped all moral teaching from schools and wonder why we now have kids killing kids and disrespectful of all authority, we’ve had a President sit in the Oval office and lie about his sexual escapades on our taxpayer time, we have a current President who voted three times as an Illinois State Senator against the “Born Alive act” which saves a human child from murder if it survives an abortion (infanticide), our highest federal officer refuses to enforce the Defense of Marriage Act which is still a valid law and we see corrupt judges acting from the bench to further destroy our society.

We shouldn’t wonder why our country has been attacked and our facilities abroad as those in other countries watching see all this decay and find it repulsive. And the final word is; God is not mocked! What we sow, we will reap! God is patient, but any nation that sinks low enough, His Hand of judgment is extended and the only thing that will bring us back to any degree of prosperity and safety is another Great Awakening and Turning in repentance to Him!
