Obituary: Robert ?Bob? H. Scheel

Robert “Bob” H. Scheel, 79, of Rhinelander, died Sept. 21, 2012, at Country Terrace. Bob was born on July 16, 1933 in Spencer, to Henry and Myrtle (Brees) Scheel.

The family had lived in the Clark and Marathon county areas. Bob was a 1952 graduate of Athens High School. He was united in marriage to the former Elizabeth Adams on Sept. 10, 1952, at St. Anthony’s Cartholic Church in Athens. They made their home in the Wausau area. He later was united in marriage to Louise Olson in Pulaski, Tenn., in 1992. They made their home in Rhinelander. Bob had owned a Mobil Gas Station in Wausau, and later was employed as a Mechanic with Eckert Wrecking, the Volkswagon dealership in Rhinelander, and retired in 1992 from Frito Lay. Bob enjoyed shooting pool, boating and fishing, and golfing. He will always be remembered for living life to the fullest.

Bob is survived by his children; Gerald Scheel of St. Louis, Mo., Paula (Neal) Lewitzke of Mosinee, Lori Ermeling of Merrill; a step-son, Wayne (Kay) Olson of Rhinelander; a step-daughter-in-law; Diane Olson of Athens, Ala., eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; and by one brother; Floyd Scheel of Madison. Also surviving are nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends. He was preceded by his parents, Henry and Myrtle Scheel; one brother, Kenneth Scheel; one sister, Phyllis Coty; and one step-son, Alan Olson.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 26, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Sammy Jr’s located at 801 Coon St. in Rhinelander. Cremation has taken place. Interment of Bob’s cremains will be at Prairie Rapids Cemetery.
