The YMCA of the Northwoods in Rhinelander will offer two interesting cooking programs this fall.

On Monday, Oct. 8, from noon to 1:30 p.m., Lin Meisinger will share her tips for making tasty and hearty soups and stews. When the Northwoods starts to turn cold, soups and stews can warm the heart and stomach. Following the presentation and demonstration, participants will share a meal of soup, homemade bread and a light dessert. The cost of the class is $15 for members and $20 for the general public. Space is limited, so register by Thursday, Sept. 27 by calling (715) 362-9622.

On Monday, Nov. 5, Karen Fiocchi will teach participants how to make homemade tortellacci. This “giant” tortellini can be found on menus in Bologna, Italy. Taken from her husband’s Northern Italian grandmother, Rose Fiocchi’s recipe, these tortellacci’s are filled with cheese and spinach, and will be served “al forno” (in the oven) with a tomato cream sauce and fresh-grated Parmesan cheese. Participants in the class will help make these treats, share in a delicious lunch and will take home a small bag of “laccis.” The cost of the class is $15 for members and $20 for the general public. Space is limited, so please register by Thursday, Nov. 1 by calling (715) 362-9622.
