Obituary: Robert C. Dahlquist

Robert C. Dahlquist, 84, of Rhinelander, died Sept. 20, 2012, at Friendly Village Nursing Home. He was born on March 16, 1928, in Niagara, to John L. and Sarah C. (Bugold) Dahlquist.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army serving his country during World War II. He reenlisted continuing to serve his country until 1953. Robert was united in marriage on Oct. 4, 1952, in St. Paul, Minn., to the former Dorothy Yeske. They lived in Coon Rapids, Minn. until the mid 1990s. Robert had operated a gas station and had been a security guard. He had lived in various areas of Minnesota and Wisconsin, eventually settling in Rhinelander. Robert enjoyed duck hunting and researching the Dahlquist family heritage.

Surviving are his three children, Vickie Cheney of Alabama, Anita Elsenpeter of Anoka, Minn., and Robert Dahlquist of Minnesota; six grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother and sister-in-law; Walter Joseph (Shirley) Dahlquist of Rhinelander. Robert is further survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Cremation has taken place. Burial with full military honors will take place at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minn.
