Obituary: Ramona M. Rasmussen

Ramona M. Rasmussen, 80, of Rhinelander, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, at Ministry Saint Mary’s Hospital. Ramona was born in Rhinelander, on Feb. 6, 1932, to Jacob and Evelyn (Winchell) Miller.

She attended grade school and high school in Rhinelander, graduating in 1950. Ramona was united in marriage to Lawrence Rasmussen on Nov. 4, 1950, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church. She had been employed at Montgomery Ward for several years. Ramona was an avid square dancer, and enjoyed playing bingo and cards. She enjoyed traveling to Germany, Hawaii, the Bahamas, and Japan, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. Ramona was a past member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her loving husband Lawrence, children, Barbara (Tom) Church, of Rhinelander, Debra Brunsell of Porterfield, WI, Diane (Ray) Anderson of Porterfield, WI, David (Anne) Rasmussen of San Antonio, TX, and Dawn Steckbauer of Atlanta, GA, thirteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. Also surviving are three sisters and two brothers-in-law; Laura (Frank) Kramer of Rhinelander, Marlene Brooks of Rhinelander, and Edith (Leon) Kukanich of Eagle River, WI, and one brother and two sisters-in-law; Jacob (Janice) Miller of Rhinelander, and Elaine Miller of Rhinelander. Ramona is further survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, one granddaughter; Caitlyn Steckbauer, son-in-law; Norman Brunsell, one brother; Elmer Miller, one sister; Esther Paszak, and a brother-in-law; Robert Brooks.

Ramona’s wishes were to be cremated.
