Eagle River YMCA shares bike trip experience

YMCA employees and the Y Board President decided to share their planned bike trip with any YMCA member who would be interested last Saturday, Sept. 15. The impromptu trip was modified. Instead of the 30 miles planned to bike, the trip was shortened to 15 miles to encourage all ages and abilities to participate. It started at Trout Lake and went to Boulder Junction and back.

The group spent time at the Colorama craft fair and then dined at a local restaurant. “This was a true example of community. Some of us were already friends. Some had met in group exercise classes. Some had met for the very first time that day. All came home feeling like family,” said Julia John, Program Director and event coordinator.

“I want to thank Julia and Kevin and Dennis and Kathy for making this a Y event. It was a beautiful day and we had a very special time,” said Gary Appel who biked with his wife and the group.

The Y looks to connect people with their community with special events, exercise and wellness classes for all ages. Keep in touch with the Y through ymcaofthenorthwoods.org or Facebook.
