The School District of Rhinelander’s Board of Education has announced the appointment of Ray Burgan to take seat on the board to fill the vacancy created with the resignation of Tim Thorsen. Burgan was added to the board at their monthly meeting on Sept. 17. Burgan has also been selected by School Board President Ron Counter to serve on the Employee Relations Committee.

Burgan is the co-owner of Enterprise Wood Products of Rhinelander, and also currently serves as the secretary for the Downtown Rhinelander Inc. Board of Directors. He has been instrumental in the ongoing I Buy Local campaign, a joint project between Downtown Rhinelander Inc. and the Rhinelander Area Chamber of Commerce.

Three other citizens submitted candidacy papers for this position-Dan Brunette, Scott Sedlacek and Geoffrey Edwards. Mr. Sedlacek and Mr. Edwards withdrew their candidacy prior to the Sept. 17 meeting. Brunette was interviewed by the Board for the appointment.

The new School Board Member list as well as the new Committee Assignment list can be found on the District’s website under School Board.
