Obituary: Leslie H. Somers
Leslie H. Somers, 80, of Rhinelander, died Sept. 14, 2012, at Ministry Saint Mary’s Hospital. He was born on March 26, 1932, in Rhinelander, to Howard and Hazel (Hudson) Somers.
Mr. Somers attended school in Rhinelander and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married Charlotte Baker on April 5, 1950, and together they raised their family of eight children. Mr. Somers was employed by the Rhinelander Paper Company for 43 years. He enjoyed time spent with his family, coffee with friends, fishing, and loved visits to the casino.
Mr. Somers is survived by six daughters, Mary (Ronald) Krueger of Eagle River, Kathleen Somers of Merrill, Leslie (Greg) Wise of Irma, and Angela (Daniel) Zastrow, Robin (Thomas) Germer, and Patricia (Robert) Shepard all of Rhinelander; two sons, Michael Somers of Wausau and Kevin Somers of Sturgeon Bay; 19 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and three brothers, Raymond (Jean) Somers of Harshaw, David Somers of Rhinelander, and Howard (Tammy) Somers of Harshaw. He was preceded by his parents; his wife, Charlotte on Feb. 24, 2004; a grandson; and a great grandson.
Memorial services for Mr. Somers will be held on Thursday, Sept. 20, at 4 p.m., at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church – St. Joseph Site, with Fr. Tom Thakadipuram officiating. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the church.
