“Will there be a city wide deer hunt in Rhinelander this year?”

– Phil, Rhinelander

The Star Journal asked Kathy Johnson, administrative assistant for the City of Rhinelander. Johnson responded:

“The annual city deer hunt runs from Sept. 15 through Jan. 31, 2013 and is for bow hunting only.

“The hunter must come to the Rhinelander City Hall with his backtag and fill out a form allowing the Police Department to do a criminal background check. He also must obtain signed permission from a landowner allowing him to hunt on the landowner’s property. Once the background check is completed, the hunter is contacted to return to City Hall to obtain his Deer Damage Backtag permit, and he then is cleared for the hunt.”
