The 2012 Youth Outdoor Heritage Day is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 22, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Hodag Sports Club on Cty. C in Rhinelander.

Stations for this youth-themed event will include orienteering, Trout Unlimited fly fishing, National Wild Turkey Federation Jakes Program, National Archery in the Schools Program, a clay pigeon shoot, air rifle range, presentation from the WI Trappers Association, Bass Masters Fishing Clinic, WI Waterfowl Association, WI DNR Wildlife Ecology and Habitat and more. The goal of the program is to introduce area youth to the outdoors and provide youth with the skills to pursue hunting, fishing and other outdoor sports.

Youth must be enrolled in 4th through 8th grade to participate. Lunch will be provided to all participants and one parent/guardian. All firearms and ammunition will be provided, and no other weapons or ammunition will be allowed. All classes will be lead by certified Hunter Education Instructors. Completed registration forms MUST be returned by Monday, Sept. 17, to Warden Jim Jung at 107 Sutliff Ave, Rhinelander, WI 54501. Registration forms are available at the DNR office on Sutliff Ave. in Rhinelander, all Rhinelander area schools and at area sporting goods stores.
