Obituary: Elsie A. Petersen
Elsie A. Petersen, 96, of Rhinelander, passed away on Monday, August 20, 2012, at the Friendly Village. She was born on April 21, 1916, in Cloquet, Minn., to Herman and Anna Poppy.
Elsie married Russell Carl Petersen in 1944 in Milwaukee. They moved to Rhinelander in 1947 where they raised their family of three daughters. Elsie was employed for many years at Stefonik’s Grocery Store. She was a faithful member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. Elsie’s greatest enjoyment came from being with family and playing cards.
Elsie is survived by her three daughters, Nancy (Philip) Moloney of Hartland, Diane (Jim) Grinsel of Wausau, and Linda (Paul) Engleman of Rhinelander; seven grandchildren, John (Mary) Moloney of Maplewood, N.J., Kevin (Sandy) Moloney of Pewaukee, Amanda (Cory) Johns of Salt Lake City, Utah, Jeffrey (Danielle) Grinsel of Topeka, Kan., Sarah (Keith) Dickerson of Whitfish Bay, Paul (Rosa) Grinsel of Chicago, Ill., and Amy (Jon) King of Rhinelander; 12 great grandchildren; and a special niece, Margie Newport of Antioch, Calif. She was preceded by her parents, Herman and Anna Poppy; her husband, Russell; five sisters; and six brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Aug. 24, at 11 a.m., at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Revs. Kari and Timothy Vadis officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the church.
