Former governor Thompson will face Democrat Tammy Baldwin in the November election to succeed retiring Democrat Herb Kohl.

Sommer will go on to face Republican Tom Tiffany and Libertarian Paul Ehlers in the November general election to succeed retiring Democrat Jim Holperin
