For the first time in 7 years, Tri-County Council’s Annual Golf Scramble will be held on a Saturday, July 28. In hopes of accommodating more golfers on a weekend, the day has been changed from the traditional Monday to Saturday. The tournament is also back in Rhinelander, at the Rhinelander Country Club, with shotgun starts at 8 a.m. or 1 p.m. for 18 holes.

There are two “Hole-in-One” opportunities, with a car from Rhinelander GM on hole #5, and a $2,000 gift certificate from Wickersham Jewelry on hole #14. New this year is the “Putting Contest” which is open to the public and all ages are invited to play. No registration is necessary and participation in the scramble is not required. Fee is $5 for 3 putts, any putts that go into the cup will be entered into a drawing for a 50/50 cash split with the agency. Drawing will be at 7 p.m. The golf event will be followed by the traditional raffles, silent and live auctions, prize awards, and buffet dinner presented by Chef Brian. Guests will also be treated to musical entertainment by the Rhinelander teen girl band, “Critic” playing classic rock.

Prizes this year include pottery from local potter, Richard Fraser of Three Lakes, original oil painting by Lake Tomahawk fish and wildlife artist, Rodd Umlauf, a custom jewelry ensemble by Wickersham Jewelry, golf packages and fishing equipment. Many of our Northwoods business have contributed gift prizes and over 50 valuable gift certificates at area and regional restaurants and gift shops. A full day and evening of fun are planned to help raise funds for the Safe House and to continue the work of the agency for victims of abuse.

Sponsorship opportunities are still available and donations of prizes are still being accepted; all donations are tax deductible. Registration is open to everyone and you don’t need to be a great golfer to play! Cost is $85 all inclusive for the day and evening, or $25 for dinner, prizes and music.

Reservations can be made by calling (715) 362-6841.
