Star Journal to feature expanded coverage of local sports scene
The Star Journal has announced a partnership with HodagSports.com that will bring expanded coverage of the local sports scene to the pages of the newspaper and StarJournalNOW.com. Both Rhinelander High School-related sports, along with the local area sports, will now have a wider viewing audience thanks to the affiliation.
Selected sports stories will run on both media outlets as the Star Journal expands sports coverage for their readers. Increasing this coverage will give the Rhinelander community more options to get the latest on local sports as well as high school sports.
The joint venture has been in the works for some time. HodagSports.com Owner Jim Hext got together with Craig Mandli, the editor of the Star Journal, and together they decided to form the partnership.
“This partnership between the Star Journal and Hodagsports.com is something that just makes sense,” Hext said. “It will give this community, the entire surrounding Rhinelander area, the increased sports coverage that it needs to stay informed.”
“Editorial coverage of local sports will be an exciting addition to the great sports photos that have long been a part of the Star Journal and StarJournalNOW.com,” said Star Journal Editor Craig Mandli. “There are a lot of people that avidly follow RHS and youth athletics in this area, and being able to provide coverage of those contests will certainly be of great value to our readers.”
Hext went on to add, “By joining together it will make both media outlets stronger, and that is something that will benefit our readers, both old and new. Craig and I believe this will allow for a wider audience of sports fans by having the two medias work together.”
Hodagsports.com has long offered in depth reporting and coverage of local youth and club sports, as well as high school sports.
“People have been coming to hodagsports.com for scores and sports stories on the latest sporting events going on in the Rhinelander community, as well as feature articles on local sports athletes and the informative articles concerning local sports, for years,” Hext said. “That’s not going to change. In fact, now they will have the opportunity to get that same quality and in depth reporting in the Star Journal as well. We’re very excited about the future of this partnership, and the positive effect it is going to have on the Northwoods.”
