Public Service ‘2012 Energy Challenge’ deadline is July 31
Wisconsin Public Service is challenging community non-profit organizations in its second annual “WPS Energy Challenge.” Selected clubs could earn up to $1,500 for learning about energy conservation, saving energy at club members’ homes and assisting community members in weatherizing their homes. Non-profits must apply before the July 31 deadline. Participating organizations from the WPS service area will undergo a qualifying selection process and be notified by Aug. 31.
To receive the grant, clubs must complete four energy-related tasks.
• Install 10 home weatherization kits from WPS into ten residences in their community.
• Track group members’ energy awareness efforts.
• Ten club members must pledge to reduce their energy consumption during the three months of the challenge (October, November and December 2012) as compared to the same three months of last year.
• The organization must secure 10 new sign-ups for e-Bill Paperless Billing or Budget Billing.
Results will be analyzed in January 2013 and the top five organizations that successfully complete the challenge and save the most energy will be awarded a $1,500 grant. A $750 grant will be awarded to each of the other 15 organizations that complete the challenge.
