Letter: Letter writer is arrogant by John Berg
Editor:
Reading Dixie King of Harshaw’s comments (Viewpoint, July 8), I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at the arrogant foolishness. She brands Social Security “a bad idea from the beginning.” Tens of millions of past and present Americans, forgotten and abandoned by corporate America, who where spared from abject poverty in their old age, would strongly disagree. She calls health care a “financial disaster.” Thanks to the parasitic for-profit health insurance industry, she isn’t far off on that. But I doubt we blame the same people.
Given the tone and content of her remarks, I will bet dollars to doughnuts Ms. King is young, healthy and employed. Or financially independent. Watch her opinion change faster than the speed of light if life should start dealing her some bad cards.
The God of her Bible condones capital punishment. The Jesus of my Bible commands us all to be our brothers keeper. The uncaring, passionless and the selfish always seem to ignore that bit of scripture, however.
