Hodag MASH blood drive today at Pioneer Park in Rhinelander
In an effort to boost mid-summer blood donations, the 3rd annual Hodag MASH Blood Drive is being held today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pioneer Park in Rhinelander.
The Community Blood Center is sponsoring the drive, featuring plenty of camouflage, dog tags and olive drab at the MASH (Mobile Army Surgical Hospital) themed event. Around 150 people are expected to donate blood at the blood drive.
Blood donations usually decrease in the summer, when school is out and people take summer vacations. Blood donations drop around the 4th of July, and a successful Hodag MASH Blood Drive will help replenish blood supplies after the 4th of July week.
Every day, area hospital patients receive blood transfusions to help them recover from surgery, illness, car accidents, or other traumas. These blood transfusions are made possible by the generosity of local blood donors, like those who donate at the MASH Blood Drive.
Since 1955, the Community Blood Center has provided Wisconsin hospitals with a safe, steady blood supply. The nonprofit blood center is committed to providing a reliable blood supply for hospitals in Rhinelander, Woodruff, Tomahawk and beyond. The Community Blood Center has donor centers in Woodruff, Appleton, Oshkosh and Little Chute, and holds around 100 blood drives every month.
