Obituary: Jerry L. Colvin
Jerry L. Colvin, 78, of Rhinelander, died on July 7, 2012, at the St. Claire’s Hospital in Weston. He was born on Sept. 10, 1933, in Beaver Dam, to Virgil and Evelyn (Molthen) Colvin.
Jerry was employed for many years by A.O. Smith in Milwaukee, retiring in 1990. It was shortly thereafter that they moved to the Rhinelander area full time. Jerry and the former Dorothy Bergland were united in marriage on June 12, 1953, in Milwaukee, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 18 of last year. Earlier in life Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing and gathering firewood. Later in life he loved going to the casino.
He is survived by his daughter Debra (Timothy) Sanders of Rhinelander; his two sons, Larry Colvin and Michael Colvin, both of McNaughton; eight grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; his step-sister, Barbara (Donald) Dean; his four step-brothers, Robert (Jackie) Parker, William Parker, Richard (Linda) Parker and Bernard Parker; nieces; nephews; and many friends. In addition to his wife he was also preceded by his parents; and a sister, Ginger Gomez.
Visitation for Jerry will be held on Saturday, July 14, from 10 a.m. until noon, when a memorial service will be held, all at the Carlson Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Newbold Memorial Cemetery.
