Crescent water spring on River Road being disinfected

The Town of Crescent Water Spring on River Road is in the process of being disinfected. Chlorine tablets were added to the interior of the spring basin on Thursday, July 5.

Chlorine will be present in the spring water basin for several days.

What does this mean?

During disinfection, the water from the spring will contain chlorine. The chlorine may be noticeable by smell. There will be no noticeable color change in the water.

It is recommended water from the spring should not be used during this chlorination process. Any water used should still be boiled prior to use. The boil water notice that was posted on Friday, June 29, will continue until testing indicates the water is free of coliform bacteria.

Water testing will be completed on Monday, July 9, and Tuesday, July 10.

After testing indicates the water is free of coliform bacteria, the boil water notice/postings will be removed. The water spring on South River Road has been posted with an additional disinfection notice.
