Local nonprofits invited to participate in WPS Energy Challenge
The second annual Wisconsin Public Service Energy Challenge returns this fall, Oct. 1 through Dec. 31. The program is open to community nonprofit organizations located in WPS‘s service area.
Nonprofit groups must apply to participate in the challenge by July 31. Twenty applicants will be chosen to compete for grants by saving energy and helping others save energy. The top five organizations that successfully complete the challenge and save the most energy will be awarded a $1,500 grant; a $750 grant will be awarded to each of the other 15 organizations that complete the challenge.
To receive a grant, the organization’s members must complete challenge tasks in the following areas:
• Service: Install 10 weatherization kits in community members’ homes.
• Personal “Energy” Behavior: 10 members attempt to decrease their energy use over the 3-month challenge period. The final total will be an average of the group.
• Programs: 10 WPS customers sign up for e-Bill Paperless Billing & Payment and/or Budget Billing.
• Education: Track group members’ energy conservation actions.
