Hospitalist joins Ministry Saint Mary’s Hospital
Ministry Health Care recently announced that Dr. Abdul Basit has joined Ministry Saint Mary’s Hospital in Rhinelander as a Hospitalist.
Hospitalists are providers who specialize in caring for patients who have been hospitalized. In many areas of the country, primary care providers are referring their patients to a Hospitalist when their patients are sick enough that they can no longer be cared for in the outpatient setting.
“I believe in compassionately taking care of acutely ill hospitalized patients,” said Dr. Basit. “I value the opportunity to cater to the special needs of my patients and their families during their difficult times.”
Dr. Basit earned his medical degree from Allama Iqbal Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan. He completed his internal medicine residency at Harlem Hospital Center in New York, N.Y. He also provided care at the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Pakistan. He is a member of the American College of Physicians, and the Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America.
He has a special interest in central line placement, lumbar puncture, thoracentesis, paracentesis and arthrocentesis. “I keep up-to-date with the most recent advances in medicine to be able to provide the best possible care available to my patients,” added Dr. Basit.
