Questionable: Who’s the weather voice?
Each week we answer questions our readers have asked. What do you really want to know? Drop us a line; maybe we can help.
“Who belongs to the voice that comes over weather radios when there is a warning or watch? Is it a real human, or a machine? It sounds like a robot.”
– Sydney, Cassian
The Star Journal sent an email to the National Oceanic and Atomospheric Administration (NOAA) in Green Bay regarding this question. They responded:
“The voice is computer-generated, using “concatenated” voice generation software.”
