The Rhinelander District Library will host a hands-on workshop on the art of vermicomposting, on Monday, July 9, at 6:30 p.m.

Master Gardener Mary Ann Lambrecht will teach participants how to produce high quality compost with worms. She will provide all of the materials and instruction needed, including worms, to create a “worm bin” that is ready for participants to take home and begin their own vermicomposting.

Lambrecht is an experienced instructor, gardener and vermicomposter. She grew up among a large family of gardeners and farmers. After many gardens of her own, she wanted to share her knowledge with others, and took the WI Master Gardener training in 2002. Since then she has taught gardening classes at Nicolet College, and is the president of the Vilas County Master Gardener Association. Presently she is on the board for the new Northland Pines Teaching and Community Garden, and enjoys sharing her love of gardening with others.

Pre-registration is required by Saturday, June 23, in order to make a worm bin. Space is limited. Participants need to bring $15 (cash or check made out to Mary Ann Lambrecht) and a drill with two bits (3/16 and 1/2-inch.) It is not a requirement to make a worm bin in order to attend. No fee is required to attend and observe.

For more information, call Chris in the Adult Department at (715) 365-1070, ext. 1086 to reserve a spot (include your phone number).
