Hydrant flushing notice, June 14
The City of Rhinelander Water Utility will be flushing fire hydrants in this area on Thursday, June 14:
– Hydrants being flushed include all of Mason Street, Eagle Street, Pinos Street and Curran Street. Also we will be flushing north of Timber Drive between Iverson Street and Stevens Street to Dwight Street.
Flushing will begin at 8 a.m. and finish around 2 p.m. Hydrants will be flushed Monday through Thursday. The system flushing started Monday, and could take up to four to six weeks.
During flushing you may experience a discoloration of the water in your home or business. Before doing any laundry or other projects, make sure the tap water is running clear.
The city flushes hydrants to clean out iron deposits in the water lines, to verify the hydrants are working properly and to assure continued high quality drinking water. The utility recommends users run the tap water for five or 10 minutes to purge their systems of sediment and minimize discoloration.

Thank you,
