Hydrant flushing notice, June 12
The City Water Utility will be flushing fire hydrants in this area on Tuesday, June 12:
– Hydrants on Brown Street between Anderson Street north to Harvey Street. Also Alban Street between Rives Street north to Timber Drive, Courtney Street between Davenport Street north to Phillip Street. Also, we will be flushing Thayer Street north to Hodag Park and all streets west of Thayer Street between Phillip Street and Hodag Park.
Flushing will begin at 8 a.m. and finish around 2 p.m. Hydrants will be flushed Monday through Thursday. The system flushing started Monday, and could take up to four to six weeks.
During flushing you may experience a discoloration of the water in your home or business. Before doing any laundry or other projects, make sure the tap water is running clear.
The city flushes hydrants to clean out iron deposits in the water lines, to verify the hydrants are working properly and to assure continued high quality drinking water. The utility recommends users run the tap water for five or 10 minutes to purge their systems of sediment and minimize discoloration.
