Mary Carley (nee Richardson) has tendered her resignation as City Clerk/Treasurer effective June 8, 2012. Ms. Carley was initially hired as the City’s Legal/Administrative Assistant in 1989, and has served as City Clerk/Treasurer since 2005.

“I am proud of my 22 years of service with the city, and grateful for the wonderful people I’ve worked with over the years, including coworkers, city officials, and citizens,” said Carley in a statement released Tuesday afternoon. “My time with the city gave me valuable knowledge and experience, as well as opportunities for personal and professional development that I’ll carry all my life. I truly enjoyed my time with the city. However, it’s no secret that I’ve also had my share of personal issues over the past several years. Matters simply reached a point where I realized that this is what’s best for me and my family.”

City Administrator Blaine Oborn said that the city will immediately begin discussions on how to best fill the vacancy.

“This position is responsible for many crucial duties, and the recent special elections created a great deal of extra work, so it’s important to fill this vacancy as quickly as possible. The Mayor, City Council and I would like to thank Mary for her dedicated years of service to the City, and wish her and her family the best in the future.”
