Letter: Dems think they can control through fear by Susen Trail

I am a public sector worker. On 11/15/10 I received an email from the Wisconsin Science Professionals at my work address which said Walker “has made a lot of very specific campaign promises. Promises such as: paying 5% of your current salary for retirement, paying 20% of the actual cost of your health insurance which could triple what you’re currently paying.”

One of the hundreds of union funded non-recyclable fliers stuffed in my mailbox stated “Walker said he intends to void parts of labor contracts” and Walker would “take the choice out of the collective bargaining process”

And for the next two years they cry that Walker sprang those changes upon them as a surprise. It’s like Mayor Barrett utilizing estimates from a 3.5 percent survey of employers for his job loss numbers. They think we’re stupid.

The union said Walker would “reduce your pay”, and “change the sick leave conversion or get rid of it altogether”. They said Walker would make the changes “retroactive to the beginning of the contract period, July 1, 2009.” WSP also warned that Walker was going to “implement as many furlough days as he wants”. Not only did he not do that but some of the pay (taken by Doyle to fill in budget gaps) was returned to employees.

They think they can control by fear. Like Mahlon Mitchell, as president of the Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin, signing letters to Kwik Trip and M&I Bank with hundreds of branches or stores stating “In the event that you cannot support this effort to save collective bargaining, please be advised that the undersigned will publicly and formally boycott the goods and services provided by your company.”
