Updated Mon., 5/28 – The American Red Cross responded to two seperate area house fires over the Memorial Day weekend.

In Harshaw, a household of one was displaced by a fire late Friday evening, May 25. The American Red Cross provided assistance for clothing and food. The individual declined lodging assistance and instead chose to stay with local neighbors.

In Rhinelander, a household of 2 was displaced by a fire in the early morning hours of Sunday, May 27. American Red Cross responders provided assistance for lodging, clothing, shoes and food.

The American Red Cross will continue with follow-up to determine any additional disaster caused needs for the individuals affected by these household fires.

You can help people affected by disasters like floods, fires, tornadoes and hurricanes, as well as countless crises at home and around the world, by making a donation to support American Red Cross Disaster Relief. Your gift enables the Red Cross to prepare for and provide shelter, food, emotional support and
other assistance in response to disasters. Visit redcross.org, or call (800) RED-CROSS. Contributions may also be sent to your local American Red Cross office or to the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 37243, Washington, DC 20013.

For information about supporting the American Red Cross in your community as a volunteer, call the Red Cross at (877) 618-6628 ext, 5822 or email volunteer@arcbadger.org.
