Updated Fri., 5/18 – Area businesses, students, media and community members were on hand to celebrate the opening of UW-Superior’s new Outreach Office located at the Nicolet Rhinelander Campus.

UW-Superior officials, including Chancellor Renee Wachter and Provost Faith Hensrud, along with other guests, conducted the ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, May 17 at 9:30 a.m., in the Nicolet College Northwoods Center Commons in Rhinelander. Chancellor Wachter and Provost Hensrud also had a dialog with current UW-Superior Distance Learning students about their experiences in the Distance Learning Program. before the ceremony.

UW-Superior provides higher education opportunities for the people of northern Wisconsin, playing a vital role in helping businesses, organizations, governments, residents, students and professionals identify needs and programs that will truly make a difference.

“We’re delighted to expand our partnership with Nicolet College through our new Outreach Office,” said Peter Nordgren, Interim Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Outreach. “This new connection gives Northwoods residents better access to bachelor’s degree programs, continuing education, research, and resources.”

UW-Superior’s online degree students from this area will benefit from the nearby Nicolet location, especially for activities such as advisement. Prospective students will have easy access to the Outreach Office as well, including transfer students from Nicolet.

“Our goal with outreach is focused on growing community engagement throughout the Northern Wisconsin communities we serve,” said Dan Kuzlik, longtime UW-Extension employee, who will now staff the office at Nicolet.
