Irene E. Alsteen, 76, of Rhinelander, died on May 12, 2012, at Ministry Saint Mary’s Hospital in Rhinelander. She was born on Oct. 12, 1935, in Rhinelander, to Floyd and Nina (Lutes) Laddusire.

Irene was a lifelong resident of Rhinelander. Many knew Irene from her employment at the Tasty Bakery for many years. Irene loved music. Her entire life was either participating in “Stunt Night”, playing bass guitar with the band “The Desperado’s”, or as a proud member of the “Hodag Hunnies”. Irene also volunteered as a driver for those in need of dialysis. She brought joy to many through her humor, kindness and loving ways.

Irene is survived by her three daughters, Wendy Novitzke of Poynette, Kathryn (Warren) Hoganson of Rhinelander and Jolynn (Randall) Hill of Lodi; her son, Steven (Lisa) Alsteen of Rhinelander; her grandchildren, Jeremy Bruyette, Shannon Alsteen, Trista Walkowski, Marci Melton, Jessica Groskopf, Atticus Hill, Tanner and Taylor Alsteen and Christian Hoganson; six great grandchildren; her brother, Dennis (Donna) Laddusire; and her daughter-in-law Joyce Alsteen, all of Rhinelander. She was preceded in death by her son, Tim “Doc” Alsteen; her husband, Joseph; brothers David and Jim Laddusire; and her parents.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 16, at 11 a.m. at the Carlson Funeral Home with Chaplain John Uhlarik officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15, and from 9 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, all at the Carlson Funeral Home.
