Carole J. Nelson, 65, of Rhinelander, and formerly of Escanaba, Mich., died May 2, 2012, at Ministry Saint Mary’s Hospital. The former Carole Chaudoir was born to the late George and Christine (Meixensperger) Chaudoir on Feb. 7, 1947, in Milwaukee.

Carole is survived by her children, Kristine (Dale) McMillan of Cape Coral, Fla., and Justin (Debra) Nelson of Glendale, Ariz.; grandchildren Mariah Riffel, Trevor Nelson, and Clare McMillan; brother, Michael (Gayle) Chaudoir of Escanaba; sisters Mary (Dennis) Livermore of Marinette and Patricia (Richard) Salo of Grand Rapids; many nieces and nephews and special friends. She will be remembered with love and missed by all.

Carole attended Bay de Noc Community College in Escanaba, and then spent her professional career working for the U.S. Forest Service in both Escanaba and Rhinelander. Since retiring, Carole spent time volunteering at St. Joseph’s Thrift Shop in Rhinelander. She also enjoyed reading, doing crafts, shopping and spending time with her family and friends.

A memorial mass will be held on Tuesday, May 8, at 10 a.m., at St. Joseph and St. Patrick Catholic Church in Escanaba, Mich.. Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba, Mich.
