Beuscher selected as Content Expert Panelist for Pain Management Exam

Nurse Practitioner Tara Beuscher, Marshfield Clinic Minocqua Center Pain Management Department, has been selected to serve a four-year term on the Content Expert Panel for the Pain Management certification exam offered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She’ll participate in a three-day meeting in Washington to begin the term.

The American Nurses Credentialing Center is the largest certification organization for nurses in the United States, offering 41 different exams for registered nurses and advanced practice nurses. Content Expert Panels (CEP) provide ongoing review and development of the test content outline (TCO) for examinations in their respective specialty areas. The CEP constructs the exam in accordance with the TCO and participates in role delineation studies (practice analysis) once every three years.

This rigorous process creates a high-quality exam that is current with standards of practice, which are legally defensible.

“I was one of eight panel members selected from a nationwide pool of applicants to serve on the CEP for the Pain Management Certification Exam,” Beuscher said. “This group sets the standards for certification in the specialty of pain management. Committee members must be already certified in the specialty. I’ve been certified since the exam was first offered in 2005. Qualifications also specify that panel members be a leader in the field of pain management and be recommended for inclusion on the committee by their employer.”

“This is a great honor for Tara and speaks highly of the character and expertise on our Minocqua Center’s Pain Management team,” said Kelly Rydeski, manager. “The exam committee meets for three days, twice annually in the Washington area, so she can fulfill her responsibilities for this panel and still provide full-time care right here for our patients.”

For more information, call the Pain Management Department at the Minocqua Center at (715) 358-1814 or (800) 347-0673.
