Three arrested for marijuana trafficking
Updated Wed., 5/2 – The Northcentral Drug Enforcement Group recently arrested three individuals as part of an ongoing investigation into the trafficking of marijuana. Investigators seized a large amount of cash, approximately $106,000.00, that had been hidden in a package destined for Clackamas, Oregon.
Investigators received a tip from a local freight company of a suspicious package destined for Clackamas. Rhinelander Police Sergeant Angela Mertz, and canine Drago, were called in to sniff the package and alerted to the presence of drugs.
Investigators applied for and received a search warrant for the package. Upon opening the package officers located approximately $106,000.00 in cash. This investigation lead to the execution of several other search warrants in Rhinelander, Wausau, Price County and Portland, Oregon, which resulted in the seizure of an additional $12,000.00, a marijuana growing operation, and 24 pounds of packaged marijuana.
As a result of this investigation, Andrew J. Yungerman, 26, of Rhinelander, Barbara A. Elliot, 63, of Wausau, and Jeremy T. Williams, 40, of Portland, Oregon, were arrested and referred to the Oneida County District Attorney’s Office for charges related to the sale and possession of marijuana.
This arrest was part of an ongoing controlled substance investigation by the Northcentral Drug Enforcement Group (NORDEG) Task Force. Participating agencies in this investigation included the Rhinelander Police Department, the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, the Price County County Sheriff’s Office, Clackamas (Ore.) County Sheriff’s Office, Marathon County Special Investigative Unit which includes; Marathon County Sheriff’s Office, Wausau Police Department, and the Everest Metro Police Department.
