Rhinelander Flowage Alliance sets spring clean-up and picnic
The new lake association, Rhinelander Flowage Alliance, is organizing a spring clean-up of shorelines in the flowage area, which includes Boom Lake, Bass Lake, Lake Creek, Thunder Bay and the Wisconsin River (flowage) upstream to the McNaughton bridge, on Sunday, April 22.
Volunteers are urged to spend a few hours picking up trash, then meet for a potluck picnic on at 2 p.m. at Estabrook’s Island. In the event of very cold or rainy weather, the picnic will be held the following Sunday at the same time and place.
Volunteers are urged to cover as much of the wild shorelines as they can this coming Earth Day weekend to pick up litter. RFA reminds everyone to respect private properties by staying in their boat and picking up only trash in the water or that which can be reached from the water. Fishing nets and ski poles are good implements to use.
