Three Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce awarded $30,000 tourism grant

A new event in Three Lakes will have additional marketing power thanks to a $30,000 Joint Effort Marketing grant from the Department of Tourism presented by Secretary Stephanie Klett. The Northwoods Heritage Fest, hosted by the Three Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce and Welcome Center, is expected to generate an economic impact in excess of $400,000 from traveler spending at area hotels, restaurants and stores.
The two-day festival, July 20-21 2012, features four different heritages, Polish, German, Native American and Three Lakes, Wisconsin. Food, music, hand-on participation, history and tradition displays will work together to create an unforgettable experience for attendees. A parade of flags, children’s activities, a cultural stage with performances and evening entertainment round out the festival’s events.
“We want this new unique event to provide family fun and education as we give tribute to some of the various heritages in our area. We plan on making Northwoods Heritage Fest an annual event and expanding our coverage of additional heritages in the years to come,” said Skip Brunswick, Executive Director of the Three Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce. “The Chamber is dedicated to promoting tourism, not only for Three Lakes, but for our entire Northwoods surrounding communities and this event is part of that.”
“We are very interested in having the northwoods community participate in this unique event. Please let us know if you or your group would like to participate,” continued Brunswick. “This is an opportunity for our communities to band together to showcase our area and our heritage. As we progress with this event, our hope is to include many more nationalities in the Northwoods Heritage Fest.”
The Northwoods Heritage Fest Committee is interested in groups, organizations or individuals that can help add support to this event’s heritage/cultural theme and concept. There are sponsorship opportunities open that will gain significant media exposure, heritage participation needs and needs for individuals interested in volunteering for this unique community event.
