Watts named Nicolet College Student Ambassador

Maria Watts was recently selected to receive one of the highest honors Nicolet College bestows on a student by naming her Student Ambassador for the 2012-13 school year.
As ambassador, Watts will work to promote Nicolet and help inform residents of the opportunities the college has available to them and their communities.
“Nicolet is a fantastic college with so much to offer students,” Watts said. “One of my goals as ambassador is to let people know what a great college it is. I love attending classes and am getting a great education.”
The Ambassador Selection Committee had many fine nominees, which made it a challenge to select just one individual, said Julie Morgan, Nicolet Student Live coordinator and ambassador program organizer.
“When it came time to decide, everyone on the committee thought Maria would be a wonderful Student Ambassador,” Morgan said. “She is an extraordinary student who is very friendly, always willing to help her classmates, and is committed to making the most of her time here at Nicolet.”
Watts, from Elcho, is a student in Nicolet’s University Transfer Liberal Arts Program, and plans to continue her education after Nicolet at Northern Michigan University.
The Student Ambassador program is a statewide program of the Wisconsin Technical College System. One student from each of the state’s 16 technical colleges is selected for the honor based on high academic achievement, community involvement, leadership, and a commitment to higher education.
As part of her responsibilities, Watts will represent Nicolet at the state Ambassador Conference April 18-19 in Madison.
