Adjusting to a Healthier Lifestyle Week 4

The YMCA of the Northwoods has become a place to go throughout the week to meet friends and let off some steam. Participants are here for more than just meeting their friends; they are here throughout the week to attend bootcamps, group fitness classes, and to get their workouts in. Participants are here doing their best to see results.

The multiple bootcamps offered during the week can be what people look forward or what people dread. Many of the new ‘Fit for Life’ participants thought that bootcamps would not be so demanding and fun. Before going into the fourth week of bootcamps many thought that this was going to be the easiest part of the week. About halfway through the week, many participants made the comment that bootcamps are very difficult especially if they are pushing themselves. The motivation and drive of the participants is amazing. Some Fit for Lifers are making use of the bootcamps and find themselves pushing harder. The instructors have noticed many participants gaining the confidence that they need in many aspects of their life.

Going into the fifth week of ‘Fit for Life’, participants are allowed to attend all four of the bootcamps if they choose. Many of the returning participants requested that they be allowed to attend all of the bootcamps right away. It was decided that after the fourth week they would be allowed to push themselves harder if they wanted and attend all of them if they would like. This is the week many of the participants will be revving it up and really getting results from the hard work at the bootcamps.

After last weeks low weight loss, many participants worked hard and lost about 15 pounds all together. The experienced ‘Fit for Life’ participants will be working hard and attending more bootcamps and know what to expect as the program progresses.
