Belter selected for Kohl Educational Foundation Fellowship

Pelican Elementary teacher Jodi Belter has been selected as a recipient of the Fellowship Award. The $1,000 awards are being made to 100 teachers, their schools and 175 graduating high school students.

Educators are chosen for their superior ability to inspire a love of learning in their students and ability to motivate others, and for their leadership and service within and outside the classroom.

The Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Excellence Scholarship and Fellowship Award programs were established in January 1990. The Kohl Teacher Fellowship program recognizes and supports teaching excellence and innovation in the State of Wisconsin. The goal is to support teachers in the pursuit of their unrealized goals for their classrooms or professional development. Annually, the Foundation awards 100 Wisconsin teachers with $1,000 Kohl Fellowship grants, and each Kohl Fellowship recipient’s school receives a matching $1,000 grant. Recipients’ professional accomplishments are celebrated at a recognition luncheon in the spring.

As of August 2011, the foundation has awarded a total of approximately $7.8 million to Wisconsin educators, students and schools.
