Swim Club competes in Fond du Lac Regionals

Ten swim club members travelled to Fond du Lac on Feb. 17-19 to compete in the 2012 Wisconsin State Regional Championships. Swimmers were able to compete to achieve state qualifying times and to qualify for the Minnesota Regionals taking place on March 30-April 1.

Annika Benoy (13) took 5.55 seconds off her 200 yd Freestyle (2:34.51); Russell Benoy (10) dropped 8.6 seconds from his 100 yd Freestyle (1:12.09) and 4.28 seconds from his 100 yd Individual Medley (1:25.57); Miranda Erdmann (10) dropped 5.18 seconds from her 100 yd Backstroke (1:23.36) and 4.05 seconds from her 100 yd Freestyle (1:21.52); Grace Heck (11) took 4.94 seconds from her 50 yd Backstroke (40.45); and Brodie Kasmarek (12) took off 9.95 seconds from her 500 yd Freestyle for a new time of 7:24.28.

Swimmers had very good finishes in their relay events, achieving four 1st place ribbons along with two 3rd place ribbons; and a 5th, 6th, 7th, 9th, 10th and a 16th place ribbons.

Over the swim season, two swimmers met state qualifying times in multiple events, earning them the right to swim in Waukesha Feb. 24-26. Russell Benoy (10) made the state times in his 50 yd Backstroke, 50y d Breaststroke, 100 yd Freestyle, 100 yd Breaststroke and 100 yd Backstroke. Miranda Erdmann will be swimming the 50 yd Backstroke, 50 yd Breaststroke, 100 yd Backstroke and the 100yd Breaststroke. The Rhinelander Swim Club and their families wish them luck at State.
