Elaine C. Wendt, 96, of Rhinelander, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012, at the Friendly Village. She was born on January 20, 1916, in Merrill, to Louis and Edna Williquette.

Elaine graduated from Merrill High School. She was a beautician for many years in Merrill and Rhinelander and then worked at the Friendly Village until her retirement. She volunteered at the Seventh Day Adventist Thrift Shop, the Oneida County Senior Center, and as a Grey Lady. Elaine loved walking, drawing, and spending time with her best friend and granddaughter, Ashlee.

Elaine is survived by her daughter, Tammi Wiedeman of Rhinelander; her son, Bruce (Jean) Wendt of Rhinelander; three grandchildren, Ashlee Wiedeman, Michael (Colleen) Wendt, and Brian (Kristine) Wendt all of Rhinelander; four great grandchildren; two sisters, Ruthie Jonas of Wausau and Lorton (Duane) Mahn of Merrill; several nieces and nephews; and close friend, Donna Peters of Rhinelander. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Ila Davis; a brother, Lawrence Williquette; aunt, Grace Swett; and son-in-law, Steve Wiedeman.

Memorial services for Elaine will be held at noon on Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Carlson Funeral Home, with Chaplain John Uhlarik officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place in Newbold Cemetery in the spring.
