Business Close-Up: Crandon used auto dealer offers different philosophy

When Sam May and Deny Cunha opened Redline Auto Sales in Crandon a few years ago, they knew they would fill a niche in the Northwoods by providing much needed transportation to people who have marginal credit.

“It gets to be a vicious circle sometimes,” said Sam. “You need a car to get to work, but you can’t get a loan to buy the car.”

At Redline Auto Sales, Sam and Deny always have a fleet of between 12 to 15 cars to offer their clientele. Mid-size cars, imports, trucks and vans are just a few of the models available, and makes of cars span the charts from solid Dodge work trucks to Jaguars. Granted most of these vehicles have some mileage on them, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have many more miles, and years, of service to provide. Each vehicle is safety inspected before it is put on the lot.

“For many of our customers, these cars give them a step up,” said Deny. “We offer solid, pre-owned dependable vehicles so people have a mode of transportation.”

In addition, Deny and Sam will work tirelessly to get their customers a loan they can afford, no matter what their credit history or score. “We work with local banks first,” said Sam. “But we have other companies we can turn to also. It’s not easy getting a loan these days if your credit score isn’t perfect, but we have a good success rate in getting people a loan and vehicle they can afford.”

There are also advantages to getting a loan to purchase a vehicle. “You have to pay it off, and your payments have to be on time, but this is a good way to improve your credit score,” said Sam. “Then if other lending institutions will see that you can do this, they are more apt to loan you money in the future.”

While the vehicles on their lot vary as far as make and model, this ambitious duo is also very willing to look for a specific vehicle if a customer requests one. “This is one of the services we provide our clientele,” said Deny. “We have lots of contacts out there, and can usually find a specific model if someone is looking for that.”

In addition, at Redline Auto Sales, customers can also purchase a warranty on their new vehicle. “Even though some of these vehicles have a lot of mileage, we can still provide a warranty, sometimes for up to 100,000 miles,” said Sam.

Deny and Sam also provide an easy environment for people to come to when they decide to purchase a vehicle. “We don’t play number games,” said Deny. “Our customers leave our lot feeling they have gotten service above their expectation. And we aim to continue that.”

Redline Auto Sales is located at 409 E. Pioneer St. in Crandon. The hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
