The Fix Is In, Inc. and area veterinary clinics will participate in Spay Day, an international campaign of The Humane Society of the United States and Humane Society International, to promote the life-saving benefits of spay/neuter.

A number of area veterinary clinics will be offering special promotions related to spay/neuter services during the month of February. French’s Homestead Veterinary Care and Northern Paws Animal Hospital, both in Rhinelander, will donate 10 percent of the month’s spay/neuter proceeds to The Fix Is In. These funds will help families in need alter their pets.

Pet owners who schedule their pets for spay/neuter surgery during the month of February will receive a 10 percent discount on qualifying services at Northwoods Animal Hospital, Minocqua, or a 20 percent discount on qualifying services at the Eagle River Animal Hospital.

“Spay/neuter saves pets’ lives while lessening the burden on animal shelters and taxpayers,” said Karla Ortman, Director of The Fix Is In, Inc.. “We encourage pet owners to utilize the special offers at local clinics during the month of February.”

Pet parents are also invited to participate in the 2012 World Spay Day Online Pet Photo Contest beginning Feb. 1. It is free to enter and prizes are awarded to the pet photos receiving the highest number of votes. The second Annual Spay-ghetti & No (meat) Balls Dinner will be held on Saturday, Feb. 25, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Northwoods Banquet Center in Rhinelander.
