Each week we answer questions our readers have asked. What do you really want to know? Drop us a line; maybe we can help.

“Why doesn’t the new downtown Rhinelander cell tower support the 3G network?”

– Tony, Rhinelander

The Star Journal asked Jim Greer, Senior Public Relations Consultant for AT&T Services, Inc. Greer responded:

“We haven’t announced specific mobile broadband expansion plans for the Rhinelander area, but we do plan to consistently expand our mobile broadband footprint across Wisconsin over the coming months.

“In the first six months of 2011 alone, we spent over $100 million on our Wisconsin wireless and wireline networks in the state. We have recently rolled out mobile broadband in numerous markets, including Menomonie, Eau Claire, Wausau, Sheboygan and the Wausau to Green Bay corridor, with more to come soon.”

Editor’s note: Send in your questions to [email protected], or mail them to the Star Journal, 24 W. Rives St., P.O.?Box 558 Rhinelander, WI?54501.
