The Board of Directors of White Pine Broadcasting, Inc., WXPR Public Radio, has announced the appointment of Peg Arnold as the new Station Manager for WXPR.

This will be a return to the Midwest for Arnold, as she is originally from Michigan. She comes to WXPR from Wyoming Public Media, were she served 12 of her 14 years as Development Director. WPM provides three program services and streams all three services on the internet. Wyoming Public Radio, Classical Wyoming, and Jazz Wyoming available via air, web, HD-2, and HD-3 signals, are a significant news and cultural resource serving 66,000 Wyoming citizens. Under Peg’s leadership fundraising multiplied several times over, providing the financial support for WPM’s growing community service.

Arnold’s background includes arts and cultural pursuits. She graduated cum laude from Eastern Michigan University with a B.S. in history and business administration. Arnold earned her M.A. in history, summa cum laude, at theUniversity of Wyoming, with deep forays into fiber arts, music, and ethno history.
Arnold say she loves winter and is looking forward to living in the Northwoods and helping WXPR move into a new era of service.
Long time Station Manager Mick Fiocchi announced his intention to retire in 2013. The Board began the process to find a new manager and feel very fortunate to have found someone with Peg’s experience and commitment to Public Radio. Mick will continue to serve WXPR, focusing on the successful completion of the Hear the Future campaign, and moving the studios from Prospect Street to the station’s new home on Stevens Street, among other projects. He will still be heard on the air, and in the near future he will be introducing Peg to the WXPR community. Arnold is expected to begin her new position by the end of January.

For more information, call Fiocchi at (715) 362-6000, or email [email protected].
