Obituaries for 12/4

Doreen Cornelius, 90, died Nov. 17, 2011, at Eastview Medical Rehabilitation Center. She was born Aug. 25, 1921, in Pearson, to Frank and Clara Doucette. She is survived by her sons, Thomas (Roberta) of Rhinelander, John (Marjorie) of Rice, Minn., James (Lauri) of Gillett, William (Edna “Pepper”) of Summit Lake and Michael (Robbie) of Rhinelander; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and three sisters, Phyhllis Krosnicki of Antigo, and Arleen Saykally and Jean Morgan, both of California. She was preceded by her husband, Raymond; a son, Robert; and her sisters, Urcel Jury Young, Lucille Marcotte and Ethel Mennano. Doreen, along with her family, owned and operated Walleye Lodge on Rollingstone Lake for many years. She was also deputy of deeds for Langlade County and a secretary at Elcho High School. A private family Mass will be held.

Loraine E. Jacques, 85, of Rhinelander, died Nov. 25, 2011, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born Dec. 22, 1925, in Milwaukee, to Edward and Gladys Belter. She is survived by her husband, Wally of Rhinelander; her children, George (Charmaine) of Sugar Camp, Debbie (Mike) Shattuck of Rhinelander, James (Malinda) of Jefferson City, Tenn., and Sharon (Joe) Reidinger and Linda Jacques both of Rhinelander; 10 grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. She was preceded by two brothers, Clarence and Elroy. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Aldean C. “Deana” Naug, 84, of Rhinelander, died Nov. 27, 2011, at Friendly Village Nursing Home. She was born Nov. 11, 1927, in Rhinelander, to John and Cora Petta. She is survived by her children, Paula (Jerry) Guida of Denver, Colo., Rick (Johnnie) of Seattle, Wash., Randy (Lisa) of Rhinelander and Robin Naug of Green Bay; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and her sister, Delores Counter of Rhinelander. She was preceded by her brother, Jack; and two sisters, Jean Tallier and Lorraine Krouze. After her schooling, she was employed by the Merchants State Bank and then for the Oneida County Zoning Office. Funeral services were held Dec. 2 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. Interment was in the Forest Home Cemetery.

Russell T. “Hootenheimer” Nelson, 49, died Nov. 28, 2011, at his home. He was born Aug. 30, 1962, in Tomahawk, to Robert and Gloria Nelson. He is survived by his mother; his daughters, Mandy (John) Hein, Jesse (Geoff) Skubal, Becky Nelson and Rachel Nelson (Nate Miller) all of Rhinelander; one granddaughter; his siblings, Terri Nelson of Rhinelander, Bob (Chris) Nelson of Tomahawk, Mark (Lani) Nelson of Merrill and Ricky (Val) Nelson of Tomahawk. He was preceded by his father. He was employed by Keebler and Anheuser-Busch prior to retiring from Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company. A memorial service was held Dec. 2 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Dorothy M. Phelan, 92, died Nov. 26, 2011, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. She was born July 3, 1919, to Charles and Leone Macdonald. She is survived by her children, Charles (Barb) of Madison, Richard (Celeste) of Geneva, Ill., Timothy (Joan) of Rhinelander, Patty (Tom) Reimer of Greenville, Mary Baron of Aurora, Ill. and Maureen (Dirk) Fisher of Appleton; nine grandchildren; five grandchildren; her sisters, Mary (John) Spencer of Rhinelander and Jean Miller of Milwaukee. She was preceded by her husband, Richard; a sister, Marge Sharkey; and a brother, Dick Macdonald. Dorothy worked at Reeve’s Bakery for 23 years and received the Good Samaritan Award by the Catholic Charities. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Dec. 2 at Nativity of Our Lord Church – St. Mary’s site. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
